We would like to thank everyone for their past, present, and future support. We hope that you all had a wonderful summer. As we move into fall and winter, the AEACP is excited about upcoming events, finished projects, and new fundraising opportunities. We will be looking at ways to raise awareness on both a national and global scale, looking to better the lives of specific elephants and mahouts, and finding novel ways to further bring elephant art into the mainstream. Grand plans for a small organization but if we don’t keep pushing, who will?

ElephantStay at Ayutthaya Royal Elephant Kraal, Ayutthaya, Thailand
Many of the elephants we work with in Thailand reside in Ayutthaya and are part of the ElephantStay program. Unfortunately Elephantstay and the Kraal have again been flooded and the elephants moved to higher ground. Despite certain logistical problems created by the flooded river, we are happy to say that the ElephantStay (www.elephantstay.com) program is still able to continue accepting volunteers.
In fact, our friends at ElephantStay have been working on teaching a young new artist, Soiselee, how to paint. I see a future star in the making!

Kandang Gajah Camp at Borobudur Temple, Central Java, Indonesia
Although saddened to see him go, we would like to congratulate Mr. Sean Flakelar, on his move and promotion within Aman Resorts. Sean has acted as our trusted liason at Kandang Gajah for many years. We appreciate all he has done and wish him the best of luck.
Also we are pleased to bring specialized veterinarian, Richard McCort, back to the camp this winter to do a full professional check up and report on the health and conditions of the elephants at Borobudur Temple. Many facility improvements and mahout training programs have been implemented since his initial report was made, so we look forward to this follow-up visit.

Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
All the elephants at Phnom Tamao continue to lead a very happy healthy life together. Unfortunately some of the ladies have had to be split up as they have begun to get a bit moody with age. Also Chhouk, the young male with the prosthetic foot, has grown significantly larger since he first arrived so has needed a new enclosure. The elephants’ mahouts and our good friend, Nick Marx with Wildlife Alliance (www.wildlifealliance.org), have definitely had their hands full with the care and upkeep of all the elephants residing at the rescue center.
Meanwhile Lucky continues to paint away. You can see her working on some fabric during our last visit to the camp.

Kegalle, Sri Lanka
At Millennium Elephant Foundation we continue to work on both fundraising and logistics for the creation of a boundary fence around the property in order to allow the elephants more time to roam free. As it is now, the Foundation is located within a village so for the safety of both people and elephants, the big guys spend much of their time tethered. The fence would alleviate this problem.
At the nearby Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage, additional steps are being made to further educate mahouts in elephant care and husbandry practices. Also, our friend Ravi Corea with the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society has been tasked with transporting five elephants from Pinnewala to Wasgamuwa Wildlife Sanctuary where they will have more room to roam.

We would also like to take the time to thank all of those who have agreed to be featured on our Customer Testimonial page. It means a lot and your kind words and support are appreciated, thank you.
Lastly, the AEACP is always on the lookout for new exhibition venues, speaking opportunities, and fundraising ideas. If interested or have an idea how to bring Elephant Art to your city, community, or neighborhood, please let us know.
